Before we make our first room you need to know how to move inside the 3D Camera and the Grids. Not only that, but you will learn how to create a 'brush', then select and de-select it.

1 - Moving the 3D Camera

  • As you saw in the previous lesson, the 3D Camera is located in the top left window of Radiant.
  • To you use the camera, you have to place your mouse cursor in the 3D Camera space and press the hotkey (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant JNPj59c)
  • You know when the Camera is active when your cursor changes to a crosshair.

  • Once you activate the 3D Camera, you are locked in. You cannot exit the camera unless you press (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant JNPj59c) again.
  • To move the 3D Camera you will use the arrow keys (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant 0sx163s) and the mouse.
  • Since we do not have anything in our map right now, there isn't much point to flying around.

2 - Moving the grids

  • With the grids you can pan, zoom in and zoom and out.
  • To pan around a grid, place your cursor in the grid and hold (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant JNPj59c) to move around the work space.
  • You can zoom in and out of the grid with the mouse wheel.

3 - Creating a brush

  • In the next lesson we will cover what a 'brush' is so don't worry about that now.
  • Creating a brush is only done in the grids.
  • You can choose any grid to create a brush in just be aware that each grid is a different perspective.
  • To create a brush, place your cursor in any grid, hold (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant 9mMf77z and drag)

4 - Selecting and De-selecting objects

  • To select an object, place your cursor on the object and press (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant CO8nBn5 + 4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant 9mMf77z)
  • When an object is selected it will be highlighted in RED.

  • To de-select an object, there are 2 options:

  • Option 1: Press (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant EC51zCL)

  • Option 2: Use (4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant CO8nBn5 + 4 - Move, Select, Create in Radiant 9mMf77z) to de-select the objects.

  • The best option is to use Escape because it is quicker.
